One of the most common complaints dog owners make is that their dog keeps barking. Many dog owners want to stop their barking dog but don't know the first place to start.
To stop your barking dog the first thing you need to know are the reasons which causes your dogs excessive barking. Regardless of the reason, you can stop your barking dog in 4 steps.
Control Your Dog's Barking: The first step you should take is controlling your dog's barking before it becomes worse. You have to start teaching your dog that excessive barking is not allowed. Use certain commands like "stop barking" and reward your dog with praises when it quiets down. Show your dog that you like him more when he's quiet.

Reinforce The Behavior You Like: You have to be consistent in reinforcing the behaviors you want to see in your dog. Some dog owners allow the excessive barking to become a big problem before they try to solve the problem. Keep Your Dog Active: When your dog is tired the chances of them barking excessively are slim. Keep your dog active by playing and interacting with them. A lonely dog will misbehave in other ways so it's important you get your dog some toys to play with.
You should remain consistent with these steps to keep your dog from barking. Keeping your dog inside is another helpful tip to stop a barking dog.

Give your dog a chew that is filled with a treat like peanut butter as this will keep his attention.
